Terms of Service

These terms are a contract between you and notaru. By creating an account or using notaru, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.

1. Who we are

notaru ("notaru", "we", "us") is a productivity application operated by Notaru AI, based in Puerto Rico, United States. You can reach us at luka@notaru.ai.

2. What notaru does

notaru is an AI productivity app. You write plain-language lines, and notaru uses artificial intelligence to file them into structured records — tasks, people, events, projects, and a journal — tagging and linking them automatically. notaru is provided as software-as-a-service through notaru.ai and app.notaru.ai.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use notaru. By using notaru you confirm that you meet these requirements.

4. Your account

You sign in to notaru using your Google account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and for keeping access to your account secure. Tell us promptly at luka@notaru.ai if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. Subscriptions & billing

notaru is offered on a single subscription plan of US$13.99 per month. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe, our payment processor. Prices are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which may be added where required. We may change our pricing from time to time; if we do, we will give you reasonable notice before the change affects your subscription, and the new price will apply from your next billing period.

6. Refunds & cancellation

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked, from your first payment. After that window you may cancel at any time and keep access until the end of your current billing period, but the remainder of that period is non-refundable. Full details are in our Refund Policy.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use notaru for anything unlawful, harmful, or infringing;
• upload content you do not have the right to use, or that violates someone else's rights;
• attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to notaru or its infrastructure;
• resell or redistribute the service without our permission.

8. Your content

You own everything you create in notaru. We do not claim ownership of your content. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your content solely to provide and improve the service for you — including processing it with AI as described below and in our Privacy Policy. You can export or delete your content at any time.

9. AI processing

To file and structure what you write, notaru sends your content to a third-party AI provider that processes it on our behalf. That provider does not use your content to train its models. We describe this, and the providers we rely on, in our Privacy Policy. Because the service works by reading and structuring your content, notaru is not end-to-end encrypted.

10. Our intellectual property

notaru — including its software, design, branding, and the notaru name and logo — belongs to us. These terms do not give you any right to use our intellectual property except to use the service as intended.

11. Service availability & "as is"

notaru is currently in active development (alpha). We work to keep it available and reliable, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. It may contain bugs, change, or experience downtime. We are not responsible for outcomes resulting from your reliance on the service.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, notaru will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or revenue. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

13. Suspension & termination

You may stop using notaru at any time by cancelling your subscription. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or use notaru in a way that risks harm to others or to the service. If we terminate your account without cause, you may request a pro-rated refund of any prepaid, unused period.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as notaru evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you (for example by email or in the app) before they take effect. Continuing to use notaru after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Puerto Rico will have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
